Garuda Wisnu Kencana

In Bali, there's a tourism area, called Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park. The idea of this park is to present the biggest sculptor in Bali which is also planned to be the icon of Bali. It's a sculptor of the God of Wisnu riding Garuda (a kind of eagle, which is wellknown as the symbol of Indonesia). The sculptor is still in construction process, and the above picture is the picture of Garuda's head. Later when all the parts of the sculptor completed they will be combined and become a huge sculptor.

The Land of Romance

You may have heard about the "Eat, Pray and Love' movie starred by Julia Robert. The love part was actually happened in Bali. I have not watch this movie as it's not started yet in Indonesia, but certainly I will.
I would agree that Bali would bring to love, romance. As for me there's one place in Bali which mostly could move my feeling of love, it's Tanah Lot. When you sat down at a high land in the left part of Tanah Lot area, looking at the beautiful ocean with a romantic temple on it, how can't you fall in love? It's so beautiful.

One day, I sat there all alone, when I saw those couple enjoying the beauty of the land.

I loved seeing them so happy taking picture of each other. I missed my love one so much at that time. Wish we could enjoy the beauty of Tanah Lot together.

However, there's always another day. I would be looking forward to enjoy this beautiful land again with my love one, some day..

Last but not least, hope you could feel the love that arouse in me when I look at this beautiful afternoon at Tanah Lot.

Where's the Waves?

What else the most interesting and challenging sport you can do in Kuta Beach, Bali? Yes, it's only surfing. If some people run away from waves, to surf well you have to play with waves. Just like our live, sometimes we need to play with the waves of life in order to keep living. Waves not always bad huh..

Motorbikes in Bali

Besides being called as paradise, I would also call Bali as a motorbike island. Motorbike is the most favorable vehicle used to travel around. Especially at Kuta, the center of gala, you can easily find motorbikes for rental. I myself prefer motorbikes rather than car.

The Blue of Dasa Temple Area

Dasa Temple area in Bali is another beauty of Bali. However the temple itself not become the object of interest when people visiting there, that's you can't see a temple in this picture. The beauty of small lake with many of small lotus flower grows in it become more interesting than the temple. The position that is in-front of blue ocean makes it even more interesting. Just a good place for relaxing and releasing your stressness. Dasa Temple is close to Besakih, but quite far away from Kuta, the center of gala in Bali.

Theme Day: Empty

This is a picture of Dreamland Beach, Bali. Dreamland Beach is recently become alternative beach for tourist after Kuta Beach. The different between both is that Kuta Beach is crowded, while at Dreamland you can find peacefulness. Dreamland Beach is much more quite as compared to Kuta Beach. You can easily find empty spot there.

Naughty Monkey at Uluwatu - Part 1

Do you think this guy needs glasses? I don't think so. He's one of so many naughty monkey at Uluwatu, Bali. They quietly like to follow visitors of Uluwatu and quickly grab small things they can grab from the visitors. The most annoying is they understand how important the things to you. Once they grab it they will run away until you come with the monkey tamer to trade in your things. Don't expect you can trade in value things or important thing with just peanuts, they wont trade in. For above glasses the monkey asking for eggs. What a monkey....

Slingshot at Kuta - Bali

Some people may think that Bali is merely a cultural island with beautiful landscape. But let me clarify that it's not. Bali is also an island for adventures and games. There quite many adventures can be enjoyed in Bali, such as diving, snorkeling, para sailing, and many others. The picture I show here is slingshot that you could enjoy at Kuta, Bali.

Bali and Water

Water is an important aspect for Balinese Hindu people. About two weeks ago they're celebrating Melasti Festival, a festival that ended on water (could be sea, river or even lake). There's a place in Bali, at Tampaksiring area called as Tirta Empul. Tirta means water. People came to this place to purify themself on the spring (like in this picture). It's believed that the water in Tirta Empul will purify Hindu people from evil. The legend said that Tirta Empul was created by God Indra, one of the God in Hinduism.

Besakih, the Largest Shrine

The largest shrine in Bali is Besakih, as in above picture. It is located in the previous Karangasem Kingdom, the first Kingdom in Bali. This shrine was the place where the royalty family praised God. The size and the interior of this shrine is so beautiful. Unluckily the guides and traders there are really annoying.

Today's Menu

Bali people are also wellknown with their food. One of a very famous menu from Bali is suckling pig. It's represented with some slices of fried pork and vegetables, poured with a bit spicy and hot sausage. Oh ya, there're other things included there, kind of chips made of the skin of pig and the pig's intestine filled with vegetables and pork. This could be a bit scary for those who doesn't used to Indonesian food. But, believe me...it's yummy..

The most famous suckling pig restaurant in Bali can be found at Ubud area. The restaurant's name is "Babi Guling Ibu Oka". This is not the only one, but tourists usually like to eat here.

Theme Day: Path and Passage

Hey, what do you think about this passage way? Cool right? So exotic...You can find it at Monkey Florest that is located at Ubud Region, Bali. It was a very small passage way where you can see a small river with some small waterfalls flow beside it. I really enjoyed the times sitting on the passage listening to the sounds of water fall and flows.

It really brought the freshness of the natural into my soul. But as the name is Monkey Florest, this area is full of monkeys almost everywhere. But at this particular spot you can feel a bit free from the monkeys. Just, becarefull and try not to bring any food in your bag than you can really enjoy the freshness here whithout any disturbance from the monkeys.

The Best Picture in 2008

Happy New Year everybody! It's been longtime for me not to post anything at this blog. I've miss the last month's theme. I've promised myself not to mist this month's.
Looking at the theme 'The Best Photo in 2008', I carefully look through all my Bali's photo archives. Seeing this picture, this happen to be the best one I like. It's a picture of sunset at Uluwatu, Bali. The sunset moment at Uluwatu actually not to long, few minutes only. But I was really surprise with the beautiful colors it made.

Statues at Goa Gajah

If I have ever posted about the inside part of Goa Gajah, this picture shows you one of the outside part of Goa Gajah. Those statues of dewi attached on the wall of a pool, where water flows through the statues to the pool under them. The cave's keeper let some fishes live in the pool. Balinese people believes that when a lady wash her face using the water that flows from one of the statues, that lady will look young longer.

Monkey Cemetery

This is again a picture from Monkey Forest, Bali. I think I like the forest a lot. As I ever wrote before at my previous posting that this forest become the habitat of grey monkeys. The forest is like home for the monkeys. Every monkeys in the forest has a name. When they die, there's also a cemetery there to bury them and their name is written on a monument, just like how human being is buried. That's monkey cemetery. The different with human cemetery is that when people are in a cemetery they tend to look sad and unhappy. But those monkey playing around their friend or even parent's cemetery happyly. I wonder if there's another monkey cemetery somewhere else out there.

Cafe at Sanur Beach

Enjoying the beauty of a beach while drinking in a cafe is one of a nice options to do at a beach. At Sanur beach we have this option among others. This cafe is one of several cafes available at Sanur Beach which usually has many visitors at day time. When I took this picture it was early in the morning. The cafe was still very quite, however there're still some stewards to serve you with breakfast if required.

Bicycle - Sanur Beach

One beautiful day, when we were in Bali and stayed at Sanur, early in the morning we're rushing to head to Sanur Beach. This beach is very well known with the beautiful sunrise view it has in the morning. Many visitors who stayed at the hotel arounds came by walk or by bicycle. While waiting for the best shot for the sunrise I was tempted to take the picture of those bicycles.

Lion and Monkey

When I visited Monkey Forest at Ubud, Bali, a very beautiful forest with lots of monkeys inside, I sawBalinese Hindu temple which surrounded by many statues. Most of the statues were duplicating kinds of animals. Then on one of the statue I found something cute, a small monkey. This monkey in the picture understood that I was going to take picture of the statue, lion's statue! He sat there nicely while looking at me, waiting for the click of my camera. A curious thinking then came into my mind, if it were not a statue, but a real lion, did the monkey have any guts to sit on top of it? Hehe..

Balinese Mask

Mask has been used for many different purposes by many countries. Some of the functions are as a protection on human's face, used in a performance or amusement in certain ceremonial, and some people use them for a concealment.

Mask is also very attached with Balinese people, I would say that it's part of Balinese culture. The wearing of mask is involved in almost all Balinese dance. Mask is used to identify the bad and good character. Some of the mask used in Balinese dance is even said to have magical charge. The oldest Balinese mask called as topeng pejagen (red: topeng means mask) performed in the sacred inner courtyard in Bali's temple.

In the current age the use of mask in Bali has been more popular as a part of entertainment.
